2009 Team Rules

1.            Respect
1.1         Before, during and after a game or practice, coaches, players and parents are expected to respect …
            ·         Players of all teams
            ·         On-field and off-field officials
            ·         Coaches of all teams
            ·         Parents/Spectators of all team
1.2         Disrespect may lead to player being Removed from the practice or game Examples of disrespect include, but are not limited to the following:
            ·         Openly disputes or argues any decision by an official or coach.
            ·         Uses obscene or vulgar language at any time, including any swearing, even if it is not directed at a particular person.
            ·         Visually demonstrates any sign of dissatisfaction with an official’s or coach’s decision.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct
RULE 5 SECTION 9

In addition to the NFHSA rules, any player or coach who uses derogatory or profane language (starting with "damn") on the field or bench, whether addressing a player, coach or referee may receive: first offense, 1 to 3-minute non-releasable unsportsmanlike conduct penalty; second offense a 3-minute non-releasable expulsion foul.

2.            Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Use – DON’T DO IT!
2.1         There shall be no use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages or drugs in any area inside or outside the game or practice facility. 2.1.1     Any noncompliance with this rule will result in the player being immediately suspended from the team pending a meeting between the player, his parents and the coaches.
2.1.2     Any player suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be immediately removed from the practice or game, and must notify his parent/guardian immediately.  This player will not be allowed to leave the premises except under the direction of a parent or guardian.  Additionally, the player will be suspended from the team pending a meeting between the player, his parents and the coaches.

3.            Attendance – SHOW UP ON TIME AND PREPARED
3.1         GAMES
3.1.1     All players must be present 45 minutes prior to any game.
3.1.2     If unable to be on time for a game, the player must contact the Head Coach by phone at least 2 hours before its scheduled start. 3.1.3     If unable to attend any game, the player must contact the Head Coach in person or by phone at least 1 practice before its scheduled start.
3.2          PRACTICES
3.2.1    All players must be present at the specified location 5 minutes prior to an off-field session (chalk talk). 
3.2.2    All players must be present 15 minutes prior to an on-field practice and be fully equipped when practice starts.
3.2.3     If unable to be on time for a practice, the player must contact the Head Coach by phone at least 2 hours before its scheduled start. 3.2.4     If unable to attend practice, the player must contact the Head Coach by phone at least 2 hours before its scheduled start.  3.2.5           Failure to contact Head Coach as specified above will be cost the player playing time in the next game or a game chosen by the coach.
3.3          PARENTS ATTENDANCE
3.3.1     While attending practices or games, family members and guests are to remain in the seating or concession areas of the facility unless serving as a game official.
3.3.2      Parents must notify the Head Coach if a player will be attending a game without a parent at least 1 practice before its scheduled start.

4.            Preparation
4.1          Equipment Full gear is mandatory at all times.  As such, players will not be permitted on the field otherwise.  This includes an internal mouthpiece and protective cup.

5.            Discipline

5.1          Enforcement Suspensions will be served during the next scheduled game, or as decided by the coach.
Suspensions will not be served during scrimmages or tournaments unless special circumstances occur and can be agreed to by the coaching staff and the parent.
Example:  Being removed from a practice may be seen as a special circumstance depending on the reason for removal.

6.            Issue Resolution

When a parent or player has an issue:
1.       Wait 24 hours to cool off and to keep the issue in perspective. Please do not attempt to confront any coach before or after a game or practice. Meetings of this nature do not promote resolution. 
2.       Gather the facts prior to contacting the head coach. Keep the issue between yourself and the coach. Gossiping is not acceptable behavior.
3.       Contact the Head Coach to set an appointment.  Provide enough information so that the head coach can prepare for the meeting, but avoid using this initial contact to discuss the details.
4.       Meet with the head coach privately.  Seek to understand each other’s position regarding the issue. Be honest, supportive and civil.
5.       If no resolution can be reached, assistant coaches, the team manager may be asked to become involved.
